OCALA – Board members from the Marion County Kidney Foundation attended a staff meeting March 19 at Winco Manufacturing to provide refreshments and thank the employees for their support. Winco manufactures medical office equipment.
In addition to being a Diamond level sponsor for two years, Winco employees raised additional funds through various events to help the foundation, according to a press release. Winco also had the greatest team participation in the 2011 Kicking Kidney Disease 5K and the 2012 Kicking Kidney Disease 5K, and trophies were presented during Monday’s event.
The impact of the funds raised by Winco employees and other groups and individuals was apparent during testimonials given at the most recent 5K run/walk by those who face the daily challenges of living with kidney disease. One individual stated that through the foundation’s help, she was able to continue getting to her three-times-weekly dialysis treatments and maintain her college classes, noted the release.
The Marion County Kidney Foundation is an all volunteer organization and relies solely on funds raised through donations and events. The mission is to provide financial support for education and kidney disease in Marion County and assist local kidney patients in immediate financial need.
